I am so excited to be your child's Second Grade Teacher this year!! I am honored to go to a job I love everyday. It is a true joy to watch a child's love for learning blossom throughout the year.
I started my career in education in 2006 in Las Vegas, NV as an Assistant Teacher at the Alexander Dawson School in Kindergarten and First Grade. I worked full time and completed my degree while working in the classroom each day. When my family and I moved to Austin in 2010 I was a Teacher's Assistant at Barton Creek Elementary for 3 years. I saw first hand what an amazing community Eanes ISD truly is. I graduated in May of 2011 with my BA in Educational Studies and completed the I Teach TX alternative Certification program with recommendation for candidate of the year, while continuing to work in the classroom each day. Thank you so much to the Eanes Education Foundation for allowing me the opportunity to graduate last year from Texas State University with my Masters in Reading Education. I have also completed the state requirements to become certified as a Reading Specialist.
I taught second grade at Baty Elementary in Del Valle ISD and was asked to sit on a number of committees, including math curriculum writing. I am extremely excited to be in Eanes ISD and to be teaching second grade at Cedar Creek Elementary for my fifth year!
A few interesting facts about me:
I was married to my husband in December of 2011. We have two furry babies, (our beloved Boston Terriers) Libby and Roxie. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease December 2016 and have had a lot of fun creating recipes that adhere to my new condition. Outside of teaching I am passionate about Holistic Nutrition and Fitness and am a Fitness Accountability Coach. I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, trying new things, watching Premier League Soccer, and being around my friends and family. I am also a Houston Texans fan and enjoy watching them during the NFL season! GO TEXANS!!!
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with my team and students!
